Principal, HALCO Service Corp.

Founder, Accurate Metering Products & Services (AMPS)

It is with regret, that HALCO Service Corp. & Accurate Metering Products & Services (AMPS) inform you of the passing of our Principal and Founder Harold B. Orum. Harold’s career spanned over five decades of service which began when he joined Alco Electric in 1963 and became the sole owner in 1976 and renamed the company HALCO.  Harold later created Accurate Metering Products & Services (AMPS) in 1989, envisioning the need for solutions for building owners, management companies and other clients that had the need to fairly and accurately better manage their utility expenses.  Over these many years, Harold was personally involved in a collegial and collaborative way, with hundreds of present and former clients.  His steady hand and leadership-by-example allowed the business to grow over the years, while creating a vibrant and energetic following of employees as well as partners.

Like all of us here at HALCO and AMPS we hope you will be able to fondly remember a time, when faced with a difficult problem that the “answer” would have started with Harold personally picking up the telephone, and asking the question, “How can we be of help?”

Harold felt strongly that AMPS & HALCO should continue to carry on, after his passing and he carefully planned “passing of the torch”, so that the same quality of dedication to service and excellence that he was so well known for would continue forward. Rest assured that AMPS led by General Manager Fiona Ho will continue designing customized focused metering, reading and billing Services. Halco Testing Service will continue to provide specialized testing services and preventative maintenance. The void left by Harold will be filled by Keith Orum who worked under the guidance of Harold for 25 years along with longtime friend and colleague Don Genutis.

Harold is survived by his wife Bobbie Ralley Orum, children Keith and Kenneth, daughters-in-law Norma and Sarah and grandchildren Lucero, Zach, and Alex, and, brothers Jeff and Jim.
